About

The title of the blog owes to a deep well of thought and knowledge. I could explain, but perhaps this snippet from the Looney Tunes celluloid library will help:

Genie: Duck, you have desecrated the spirit of the lamp! Prepare to face the consequences!
Daffy Duck: Consequences, shmonsequences, as long as I’m rich. (“Ali Baba Bunny” 1957)

The context is Daffy in a situation where he can gain great riches–because Daffy is not rich–but he always wants to be. The consequences aren’t the point, rather, wealth is. He has lost sight of the consequences. He is living life with no thought or self-acknowledging consciousness of the consequences. He does not take the consequences seriously.

OK, think for a moment, and try to relate that Daffy Duck event to why I (a neophyte theolog in a sea of sagacious theologians) might attach this moniker to my weblog. Hint: although I talk about myself, and clearly think too highly of myself, I am not the point–this theolog does not matter. But hopefully, we can talk about things and see that adherence to biblical theology matters. (This is becoming like a really bad reference joke–too much explanation, and not much funny. Let’s move on.)

If you don’t get the title, it is likely because of my stupid duck reference, and it’s not you…really, and I’m sorry. Return here to read and think if you deem it worth your time.

Oh! I get it! The “About” section is probably supposed to say something about who I am! That seems to be the pattern. I am just past middle age (43+), a happy (and calvinistically lucky) husband, a Christian pastor (male), amateur woodworker, cyclist, son, and sometime guitar player. I say more about myself and what I think than I should, and I would rather be with you people than the best people in the world.

My name is Samuel L. Hendrickson, a.k.a. Sam.
